Content Guidelines:
The 2010 BPM and Workflow Handbook covers three main sections of approximately equal page volume.
Section 1.
Spotlight on Process-Driven Business Intelligence (BI)
In 2010 we include a special spotlight on "Process-Driven BI" to illustrate how Business Process Management (BPM) and Business Intelligence (BI) are increasingly intertwined. Linking business intelligence and business process management creates stronger operational business intelligence.
Users seek more intelligent business process capabilities in order to remain competitive within their fields and industries. BPM vendors realize they need to improve their business processes, rules and event management offerings with greater intelligence or analytics capabilities.
We welcome submissions that include issues, case studies, guidance, solutions or research such as:
- BPM integration with collaboration, portals and BI
- BPM-BI with application assembly and deployment
- Dynamic event-based BI driven by BPM
- Embedding BI applications into business processes
Section 2 : The Business Value of BPM
Introduces new key concepts and sets out the business case for workflow technology and BPM. This perspective is covered by papers that provide practical information on Business Process Management (including case studies) designed for an audience of business users.
Section 3: Standards and Technology:
BPM standards have evolved from technical nuance to a business imperative. This perspective is covered by papers on system structure and values, operation and scalability issues, written for an audience of Information Technology (IT) professionals. Deeply technical papers are not required, but do submit educational papers written for the IT professional.
We
have made available a free download of the paper by Keith Swenson, TC Chair,
called “The Business Value of Workflow and BPM” which clarifies the distinction made by WfMC between business users and IT professionals.
------------------------------------------------------
Submission Guidelines:
- Please adopt a forward-thinking approach when writing your paper. Our annual series are sought after by libraries, universities and colleges worldwide and have a
very long shelf and reference life.
- Resist stating the obvious (or the old and tired) with regard to describing or defining BPM, workflow and associated technologies.
- The purpose of the Handbook is to educate both new and existing users of BPM and workflow, therefore if you are a BPM vendor, please omit blatant promotion of your own company's products and services when detailing your paper. or offering examples of workflow and related technologies. This is not an advertising medium - this is an educational tool for business and IT readers. The review committee will reject abstracts or papers
that are BPM product- or vendor-specific.
- Page size is Executive, with 1" margins on all sides.
- The length of the paper should be between 6-14 pages including graphics. If you need additional space to adequately present your case, please try not to exceed 18 pages.
- If you plan to include tables, diagrams or graphics, they must fit within the column width of 4.5" and can print clearly in grayscale or black and white. Colorful screen shots do not reproduce well.
